The job offer!

img_446_changemanagement

If you're still looking for a job, please don't read on, as this section will probably frustrate you.  If you've been successful here are just a few more things to consider and act on.

Your offer pack

Your job offer is a reality at last, congratulations and well done! After receiving an initial job offer confirmation by telephone or e-mail, we will send you an offer pack containing your formal offer letter, term and conditions and related paperwork/information. Carefully read and review, and make sure you are aware of what you need to do next. Most importantly if you're not sure about anything then please ask us.

Offer deadline

This is an obvious point but worth considering, particularly if you're lucky enough to have several job offers!  We recognise that accepting a new job can be a big step and we don't believe you should rush to formally accept an offer. Equally we can't wait forever and under most circumstances we would anticipate your formal decision within 14 days.

If you are unsure, or have to consider a number of options, reflect on the relative 'pros' and 'cons'. Write down the positives and negatives under headings, compare and contrast the advantages/disadvantages. You might wish to consider the...

  • role and responsibilities,
  • career path potential/prospects
  • development/training support
  • salary/benefits
  • environment, facilities and location
  • management style, company culture
  • commute
  • likely company prospects

Use this data to carefully reflect on what you want in a job/employer and trust your instincts; which opportunity feels more right for you at this point?

References

All our job offers are subject to satisfactory references and we do follow up on them. Please endeavour to provide professional/academic references (not a personal contact/friend) and please ensure we can contact them quickly. A quick courtesy call to your referees once you've received your offer pack is a helpful way to expedite the process.

Medical & security screening

Like most employers for health & safety reasons you will be asked to complete a health questionnaire and on some of our sites, an actual medical.  We require this so that we can make any necessary provision for your welfare and workplace safety.

In addition, we do carry out pre-employment security screening checks for roles that are considered to be at risk from potential infiltration by organisations and individuals whose objectives conflict with those of our business.

Animals in research

AstraZeneca is a world leader in the research and development of new or improved medicines for many different areas of therapy. We would like you to be aware that laboratory animals continue to play a vital and necessary role in the research and development of new medicines for important areas of human healthcare.  More info on animal research...
